We all know that dish soap is great for washing dishes, but it is useful for so many other household chores. Here are my favourite five uses for dish soap.
1. Homemade Bubbles
Mix 1 cup water, 2 tbsp corn syrup and 4 tbsp dish soap together in a small bowl. Pour into a bubble container and enjoy!
2. Stain Remover
Dish soap is a great pre-wash treatment. Apply directly to grease stains on your clothing and rub in with your fingers. Rinse with cool water and launder as you normally would.
3. Ice Pack
Fill a freezer bag half full with dish soap and freeze it. Double bag to prevent leaking. This will not freeze solid, but will remain flexible so you will be able to manipulate it.
4. Trap Fruit Flies
Pour approximately half a cup of apple cider vinegar into a bowl. Fruit flies love the smell of fermentation and are attracted to the vinegar. Add a drop or two of dish soap. This breaks the surface tension so the flies will sink and drown.
5. Window Cleaner
Add a few drops of dish soap to a bucket of warm water and use to wash your windows.
