I love homemaking, but sometimes I’m really not motivated to clean my house. We all love having clean homes, but don’t enjoy the process of getting them that way. Here are some tips that may help.
1. View it as your exercise for the day
Cross off two items on your to-do list at once! Make sure you wear flexible clothing so you are not restricted in your movements. Cleaning your house exercises all the major muscle groups as you are walking, stretching, bending and lifting.
2. Put on energizing music
Play music that gives you energy, lifts your mood and can make you work faster and your home will be clean before you know it.
3. Set a deadline
Invite a friend over for coffee or for dinner. You now know that you only have so much time to clean and you will make sure it is done. Or you can put on a timer and see if you can beat it. A lot of times, the tasks we need to complete don’t actually take as long to do as we think they do.
4. Start small
Choose a room and divide it up into sections. For example, clean your living room by picking up all the cushions, moving toys into a toy box, dusting, then vacuuming. Take baby steps and it will get done.
5. Change your perspective
If you grumble and believe that your work is drudgery, it will feel difficult. Consider your work as an act of service done in love for your family.
