When was the last time you cleaned your make up brushes?
It’s not something we often think about, but make up brushes should be washed at least once a month as make up, natural oils and bacteria can build up on them. Cleaning your brushes regularly also keeps the bristles soft and supple.
How To Clean Your Brushes
Squirt a small amount of mild soap or shampoo into your hand or a plate. I like to use Dr. Bronner’s.
Wet the make up brush and lather it up in the soap. Try to wet only the bristles while avoiding the metal part of the brush, as this can loosen the glue over time.
Swirl in a bowl of water until the water runs clear from the brush. Squeeze out excess water.
Lay a small hand towel out on the counter. Roll one end up. Place the brushes on the towel with the handle on the rolled end. This will prevent water dripping into the handle.
Don’t forget the handles! Saturate a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and rub over the handle of your brushes.
