Summer 2015

August 5, 2015 by Debbie 3 Comments

*  Miss C unfortunately started the summer holidays off with an injury.  The school phoned me early one morning, two days before the end of term, to say that Miss C had fallen while running on the playground.  I arrived at school, took a look at her knee and drove her straight to the hospital.  She had been running on the gravel towards her sister and had slipped.  She had a deep cut and gravel in her knee.  The urgent care doctor was very kind to her.  Miss C had two stitches and her knee is healing quite nicely now.
*  We took another visit to the Calgary Stampede this summer.  The girls had fun on the fair rides and I enjoyed visiting with the horses.

*  We had such a lovely week in Kelowna enjoying the sunshine.  Our condo was right by the lake, a canal and a nature area.  It was lovely for the girls to be able to walk a few minutes and be at the beach.  They enjoyed the nature area as they saw deer, turtles, ducks and osprey.  We played mini golf twice (once where we saw muskrats wandering the course), took a steam train ride, visited the lavender farm and a few wineries, drove to Penticton and had fun at LocoLanding (an adventure park for children) and bought fresh fruit from market stalls at the side of the road.

*  We took the girls on our annual visit to our local amusement park and tried out the new log flume ride.  They are definitely not my favourite.  Once was enough for me, but everyone else enjoyed it and went on twice!  Miss C was very pleased that this year she was tall enough to go on the bigger, scarier rides.  She loves speed and being dizzy!

After our visit, we drove to Cochrane for ice-cream at MacKay’s.  I had mint chocolate chip and everyone else had chocolate.  We found a bench in the main street and enjoyed our ice cream while people watching.

Once we had cleaned ourselves up, we took a walk around the shops.

*  For the long weekend we decided to drive down to Waterton for the day.  We took a visit to the bison paddock, skipped stones on the lake, took a walk around town and had ice-cream.  It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun.

It has been a busy, fun summer so far.  In the next few weeks we have Miss C’s birthday to celebrate and swimming lessons for Miss S.

How has your summer been?

That looks like a fun summer. We had a bit family trip and otherwise we are enjoying our British summer.

Gorgeous scenery and looks like a lot of outdoor fun. It’s been a pretty quiet summer for us since we did some things during the school breaks this past year. Plus, the kids have started school again, so we’ve been in the back to school mode.
