It’s winter time. No matter what the weather is doing, you can stay home and relax with your family.

Here are nine simple ways to make your home cozy.
1. Lay out throw blankets
Keep extra blankets on your couches or at the end of your bed for comfort and warmth.
2. Light candles
Candles add a pleasant scent and a layer of warmth to any room with their flickering glow.
3. Flowers
Adding vases of fresh flowers to a room adds natural beauty and makes your home feel welcoming.
4. Lighting
Use warm lightbulbs in floor and table lamps to create a cozy ambiance.
5. Books
Keep lots of books around. Bookshelves make a home look lived in.
6. Create A Reading Nook
Creating a cozy nook for reading and enjoying hot beverages while snuggled up in a blanket will provide lots of comfort and coziness.
7. Keep Your Memories Out
Place your photos, mementos and keepsakes displayed throughout your home. Lovely memories will be in every room.
8. Stovetop Potpourri
Make a stovetop potpourri by filling a pot with water and spices. Try adding orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, apple juice, vanilla and nutmeg. Simmer on low throughout the day, topping up with water as necessary. Your home will smell delicious.
9. Use A Fireplace
Curling up by the fire with your family (reading books or playing board games) is a great way to create a cozy home.
I use wax melts to scent our home. I think the smell of a home makes people feel warm and welcome right away. Love having a fire going, too, and warm, fuzzy blankets. It really doesn’t take a lot to make your home cozy, does it. It’s the little things!
Hi Debbie, hopping over from Blog Fuel. Love your ideas and your pretty blog.
This post makes me happy! Unfortunately, in NC our Winter has been more like Spring this year! I;m your neighbor at Monday Musings tonight!
Candles are my favorite and I agree they do add a great sense of cozy. Your blog has such a nice cozy feel to it too! I just dropped in from totally terrific tuesday!
Aww thank you for the kind words Stephanie. Have a wonderful evening!
Good afternoon Debbie, I love your ideas about creating a cosy home. I have a reading corner in my home. The Sun shines through my living room at 3.00 pm, which is the perfect time for me to read a book or catch up with my sewing.
Best Wishes to you from England.
Daphne
That sounds lovely Daphne!
I am in Indiana and we are having such crazy weather! 30’s one day, 60’s the next. It is so hard to decide if I want to cozy up with my blanket or throw open the windows and let the sunshine in! Great list of ways to stay cozy! Thanks you for sharing with us!!
This is such a grat post. I need to try doing one or two a day. My focus for the next 35 days is self-care and home care is a big part of that.
Debbie…I totally agree with you about books and reading nook! All your ideas are great suggestions! Thank you for sharing at Monday’s Musings. 🙂
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
I use a lot of those ideas, but honestly, we have just not had a winter this year. It has been more like a long Spring. But I love the candles and reading nook the best! I also like to change us the atmosphere when home. I listen to more classical or jazz music rather than my usual easy listening or spa type while cleaning or cooking.
This is exactly what I would list! Perfect ideas! Thank you for sharing with us on the Art of Home-Making Mondays this week 🙂
Thank you Jes! Have a wonderful weekend.
All of your ideas from creating a cozy home are spot on. Thank you for sharing at the Snickerdoodle Create~Bake~Make link party!

I found this post on pinterest. Thank you for sharing! I will be looking to create a book nook in our living room. I’m already thinking up some great ideas.
Thank you for taking the time to post and for the inspiration to make my home cozier for my family and I.
A book nook sounds lovely Annie! Thank you for taking the time to visit.
Wish I could send photos of my newly remodeled/redecorated COSY home. Blankies everywhere, beautiful and soft bedding in every bedroom, new wallpaper in every room, velvets, silks, linens, in soft pinks, teals and whites. Pillows galore and yummy quilts which I like to change out as the mood strikes. You reminded me about potpourri so I just started one this morning in a beautiful floral pot, just for this reason.
Sounds wonderful Irene!
