Today I’m sharing fifteen kitchen tips and tricks to make your life in the kitchen a little easier.
1. Store nut flours in the freezer to keep them fresh for up to a year.
2. Shred chicken with a hand or stand mixer instead of a fork.
3. Keep insects out of your cup when drinking outside by placing a cupcake liner upside down over the cup and poking a straw through it (this also works with plastic wrap).
4. Keep a stick or two of butter in the freezer. The next time you are baking and need to cut butter into flour, grate the butter into the bowl. Leave for a few minutes for it to soften and then continue with the recipe. This will make delicious flaky pie crust.
5. Prevent sticky ingredients sticking to your measuring cup by measuring the oil needed in the recipe first. The sticky ingredient will then slide easily out of the cup.
6. If you have over-salted a soup or stew, add a few slices of raw potato, simmer for about 10 minutes, then remove.
7. Put rice in your salt shaker to absorb moisture and prevent your salt hardening.
8. If you find eggshell in the bowl when cracking eggs, remove by wetting a finger and placing it near the shell.
9. Keep asparagus fresh for a few weeks by storing in a mason jar with an inch or two of water in the fridge.
10. After you have filled your cake pan with batter, drop it onto the counter a few times. This knocks out any air bubbles, helping the cake bake evenly in the oven.
11. De-seed a pomegranate easily by scoring around the middle of the pomegranate with a knife, gently pull it open and break it into two halves. Turn each half upside down and then hit the bottom of the fruit firmly with a wooden spoon.
12. Revive crystallized honey by placing the container in a bowl of hot water until the honey is smooth and runny again.
13. Save your parmesan rinds in the freezer. The next time you make a stew or soup, simmer the rinds in the soup for 10 – 30 minutes for wonderful flavour.
14. Cut corn on the cob easily by putting the cob in the centre of a Bundt pan. When you then cut the kernels, they will fall into the sides of the pan.
15. Use an egg slicer to quickly cut strawberries.

I use the frozen butter trick all the time. So much easier. Great tips. Thanks for sharing. Pinned and shared.
