2022 Goals | January Update

January 31, 2022 by Debbie Leave a Comment

Hello everyone. How are you today?

I wanted to share how I did with my goals in January.

My 12 Goals for 2022 {Update 1}

Goal 1. Lose 16 pounds.

Update: I lost a pound, but then put it back on again as I have been munching on too many desserts. I will try to have fewer chocolatey desserts in February.

Goal 2. Go to bed by 10:30 pm each night.

Update: I have done well with this. I have managed to be in bed between 10 and 10:30 pm every night of January.

Goal 3. Eat healthier.

Update: I have managed to have a healthy breakfast for the majority of January. I have eaten oatmeal with various toppings (banana, blueberries or raspberries).

Goal 4. Drink four large glasses of water a day.

Update: I have not managed to do this every day in January. I need to get back in the habit of carrying a water bottle with me everywhere I go. I have been drinking tea, but I’m not counting that as part of my water intake.

Goal 5. Exercise four times a week.

Update: Done! I have enjoyed circuit training, walking videos and walking outside when the weather has been nice enough. I signed up to the Marathon to Athens challenge on Conqueror Challenge and have completed 11 miles of the route.

Goal 6. Read 52 books.

Update: I have read four books this month. I chose The House at Riverton, The Compound Effect, Black Beauty and Paris in Bloom. You can read more about them here.

Goal 7. Journal (document my life).

Update: I have journaled a couple of times this month. Not as much as I thought I would. I shall figure out where it fits best in my routine (morning or evening) and try to allocate extra time to make sure I can do this.

Goal 8. Make time for hobbies.

Update: I tried watercolour painting this month. I bought a small kit that came with a pad, paints and a water brush. Then I watched a few tutorials on YouTube and tried to follow along. I discovered that I was limited with what I could do with the brush. My next step is to buy a set of brushes (nothing too expensive) and see if that helps me.

Goal 9. Try a new recipe once a month.

Update: I baked oat biscuits this weekend. It was a recipe from a book I have called Afternoon Tea. They were not too bad, but I think I need to adapt the timing a little as the biscuits were too hard once they had cooled.

Goal 10. Double my emergency fund.

Update: I set money aside for my emergency fund this month.

Goal 11. Donate to charity.

Update: I set money aside for charity this month. I need to start looking into which charities I would like to donate to.

Goal 12. Have a family game night once a month.

Update: We played Code Names which was introduced to us by my sister-in-law over Christmas. It is a word based game.  You split into two equal teams. One person will be the spymaster for each team and the other players are field agents. Word cards are placed in a 5 x 5 grid on the table. The spymaster for the team gives one word clues that can point to one or more words on the grid. The other players on the team try to guess their team’s words while avoiding guessing the words of the other team. It is really fun.
