The kitchen is the heart of the home and it can quickly get out of order and become messy. A tidy kitchen really makes a difference in how clean your house feels. Here are six quick steps to a clean kitchen.

6 Quick Steps To A Clean Kitchen
Step One: Put Away Any Food
Put any food items away in the pantry or fridge (for example, cereal boxes, jam jars, egg cartons, butter). Store leftovers in containers and place in the fridge.
Step Two: Put Items Where They Belong
Put items into a basket that belong in another area of your home. This will clear the clutter from your countertops. If you have a willing helper, ask them to put the items away where they belong. Don’t allow yourself to get distracted by putting these items away now.
Place any trash into the garbage can and recyclables into your kitchen recycling container.
Step Three: Wash Dishes
Load the dishwasher (if you have one). Run a sink of hot, soapy water and wash all your dishes and pots/pans. Place them on a drying rack. Once done, dry them with a dishtowel (or ask a willing member of your family to help) and put them away.
Step Four: Wipe Down Surfaces
Clean the table and countertops with an all-purpose cleaner. Quickly wipe down cabinets and walls if necessary. Wipe down your stove top. Clean the exterior of appliances and buff with a microfiber cloth or polishing cloth.
Step Five: Sweep The Floor
Sweep up any crumbs on the floor and spot clean any little messes.
Step Six: Take Out The Trash
Take out the trash and any recycling.
How do you clean your kitchen?
If you would like to print out a checklist to keep in your homemaking binder, I have made a printable for you.

Just a little effort can make a big difference!
Absolutely Donna!
I am honestly always amazed at those that don’t wipe down the stove and counters after cooking. It is so much easier to do it right away than to wait until it has set on. I’m all about less elbow grease. 😉
Thank you for the push to clean my kitchen! I like your 6 quick steps! Thanks for sharing!
I hope it’s helpful to you Natalie!
You make it sounds so simple! And really it is, as long as you keep up on it, that took me a few years to get down. Nice post, and I love the little checklist. Many Thanks 8)
I’m totally with you…declutter and put away before doing dishes. There’s nothing worse than thinking you’ve got the dishes done only to find more when you get back to picking up. Thanks so much for sharing at the #happynowlinkup!
Thanks for visiting Leslie! Have a wonderful weekend.
These are great tips! It’s amazing how things can come together once you get started with cleaning. Thank you for the handy printable too! I’m so glad you shared this post with us at the Hearth and Soul Link Party.
I do this stuff naturally, but it is an all day thing! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Just a small amount of effort can keep things running smoothly.
Loved your checklist Debbie. Thanks for sharing such an easy way to manage a needed task.
I hope it is helpful to you Deb. 🙂
This is the first time visiting your site Debbie. Wish I had known about it years ago. I was searching for protecting painted walls behind sinks and stoves and your site was one of many I looked at. Hope you are still blogging.
