I set my goals for 2020 and it started off well for me. Then the pandemic arrived and I was knocked off track. My goals were pushed to the side as my family and I just tried to survive the year.
Here are the results for my 2020 goals.
Personal
Goal 1. Lose 15 pounds. I lost a few pounds at the beginning of the year and then when the pandemic arrived, I did some comfort eating and gained it back. This will be a goal I will continue in 2021.
Goal 2. Walk 1,000 miles. According to my FitBit, I walked 327.55 miles during the months that I wore my FitBit. There were four months when I just did not wear it at all.
Goal 3. Volunteer in my community. I had intended to volunteer at Miss C’s school in the spring when they were planning to go on a few field trips. But then the virus arrived and all the schools were closed until fall. So, instead I donated food to a local food bank as they were in need and supported local businesses as much as I was able to.
Goal 4. Incorporate self-care into every day. I continued to read every day through 2020, but remembering to take care of myself fell by the wayside. I did take my vitamins and drink water, but I certainly did not get enough sleep or eat healthy foods.
Goal 5. Practice kindness. I spent a lot of time feeling stressed and overwhelmed, so I was not as kind to myself as I should have been. I did try to be kind to my family during 2020 as everyone was feeling the stress of multiple lockdowns and isolation from friends and family.
Family
Goal 1. Create 2019 memory/photo books for my girls. Did not do.
Goal 2. Spend one-on-one time with the girls each week doing something they enjoy. I definitely spent a lot of time with the girls last year, but not all of it was planned and intentional.
Goal 3. Schedule one date a quarter with my husband (outing) and weekly at-home dates. Again, we spent a lot of time together in 2020 and had walking dates and movie dates at home.
Goal 4. Plan a vacation together. Travel was cancelled for us for 2020. Let’s see what 2021 brings.
Goal 5. Have a family date once a month. We spent a lot of time watching movies, playing games and just being together. Again, I shall try and plan this for 2021.
Homemaking
Goal 1. Declutter my basement. Started, but did not get very far. This will again be added to my 2021 goals.
Goal 2. Take photos for our household inventory (for insurance purposes and our records). Nope, did not happen.
Goal 3. Organize our digital photos. I started this and made it through 3 years worth of photos. I will continue this in 2021.
Goal 4. Keep to a regular housecleaning routine. This completely fell apart during 2020. I found it hard to motivate myself.
Goal 5. Update my recipes. Did not start this.
Blogging
Goal 1. Post on a regular basis. The blog fell to the side during last year, but I will try to regularly post in 2021.
Goal 2. Update to a new theme. Not yet. I have been looking at designs I like, but have not made a decision yet.
Goal 3. Leave 5 comments a week on other blogs. Did not accomplish this.
Goal 4. Complete the blogging course I purchased a few years ago. Again, did not complete this. I will put it on my goals for the new year.
Goal 5. Build a community. I will continue with this in 2021.
How did you do with your own 2020 goals?
Let me know in the comments.
