2021 Goals | Update 1

February 5, 2021 by Debbie 2 Comments

It’s time for my first update for my 2021 goals.

Pink ranunculus with text overlay which reads 2021 Goals Update 1

Health

Goal 1. Lose 15 pounds. I have managed to lose a couple of pounds and keep them off, so far. The weather has been cold, so I’m definitely wanting comforting foods, but I’ve tried to include lots of veggies and salads in my meals.

Goal 2. Walk 1,000 miles. I have been walking in my community and at home when the weather has been too cold to go outside. I saw an advert in the new year for Conquerer Events. They offer virtual activity challenges which you can do either individually or as part of a team. I signed up to complete the English Channel challenge the second week of January and completed it five days later. It was fun to see my progress on the app and it kept me motivated. My next challenge will be the Inca Trail and I’m looking forward to seeing the landscape on my virtual journey.

So far this year I have walked 90 miles, according to my FitBit.

Goal 3. Practice self-care. I have not done quite as well at this as I had wanted. I have had a few late nights where I have been trying to complete some computer work after the girls have gone to bed and then have felt quite tired the next day. I need to set myself a reminder to prepare for bed at least half an hour before I want to be in bed.

Family

Goal 1. Have a date with each of my girls once a month. Completed. Miss S and I spent a lovely afternoon together. She was teaching me how to draw faces.

This was my best effort. I had a good time.

Miss C really loves to dance, so she and I spent some time together and she was teaching me her dances. I’m not very good at them, but it was great fun.

Goal 2. Have one date a month with my husband. We played driving race car games one evening when the girls went to bed. It was so much fun and I laughed a lot at how terrible I was. I’m sure we’ll do this again some time.

Goal 3. Have a family date once a month. We took a walk down by a local river on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was lovely; cold but not too cold. We even saw a lot of black squirrels climbing in the trees.

Home

Goal 1. Declutter my basement. I started this. I went through and decluttered a couple of boxes of old toys and clothes.

Goal 2. Organize our digital photos. I have completed another three years of photos.

Goal 3. Keep to a regular housecleaning routine. I have not done as well with this. I have done my minimum chores each day (laundry, clean dishes, food for everyone), but have been suffering from migraine headaches and some days I just don’t want to do very much. My headaches will improve once spring arrives. I shall keep doing what I can each day.

Blog

Goal 1. Post on a regular basis. I have been able to do this so far this year. I have an editorial calendar and I’m trying to stick to it.

Goal 2. Complete the blogging course I purchased. I have not looked at this yet this year. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do some of it this month.

Goal 3. Build a community. I have plans for this, but it will take some time to implement.

Congratulations on your weight lose. This is very hard to do. I haven’t been so lucky. I have only lost 3 pounds. Great job on your steps. I am not quite there . I have decluttered my kitchen and now working on my bedroom. My personal care is a daily struggle. Thank you for sharing your goals and the update.

3 pounds is great! You can do it Rebecca. Take it one day at a time. Personal / self-care is so important, but sometimes so hard to fit in with all the “to-dos” on our list. Try and take 10 – 20 minutes for yourself each day. Even if it’s just going for a short walk, doing a 2 minute meditation, calling a friend or reading a few pages of a book. Take care.
